Pop Art

In art this term, we have been looking at Pop Art ranging from Roy Lichtenstein to Andy Warhol. The children were then lucky enough to create their own Pop Art, in ICT, of a famous person or me! I wonder who they'd rather choose...

Moving Memories Bus

We were very lucky to have been visited by the Moving Memories Bus last Friday. It was a fantastic experience and the children were able to see what it would have been like to have lived in the 1940s. They visited a re-creation of a living room, a shop, The Blitz and an Anderson shelter; it really felt like they were part of an air-raid, which was quite scary. The children also learned about how King George told the nation to keep their faith during the war.

All of the things we've done so far this year!

I must admit that I've been a bit rubbish so far this year! I have taken hundreds of photos of the children doing various activities but I haven't put them all on the Blog- sorry!

So here you are, each video is of something different we have done this year.

Bulb Planting

DT Shelters

Drama Centre

And finally... the children have been looking at the work of Clarice Cliff in art. They found out lots of information about her (for example, that she's from the same place as Miss Bedford; well almost!). Then they used the information found to draw their own plates (see 6H's blog). Now they are sewing their own Clarice Cliff felt piece. Here they all are sewing away!

Sorry for the delay in putting up the photos of our trip. A great day was had by all; I think you can see that from the photos- enjoy.

School Council

It has been School Council this week for the whole school. In Literacy, the children were put into campaign teams in order to run for school council. We had some fantastic speeches written by our candidates and they were backed by some super teams who helped to produce posters, banners, badges and slogans. Here are our candidate's speeches- who would you vote for to win?

The new School Councillors have now been picked and will be announced on the blog on Monday, hopefully with photographs of our new team; watch this space!

Macbeth Animations

In Year 6, we have been creating our own versions of Macbeth using software called Kar2ouche. The children began by animating various scenes and then adding sound effects and speech to enhance their work. It has taken a long time to find out how to upload these animations so you can thank our ICT co-ordinator, Mrs Hallybone, for helping out!

I hope you enjoy watching a selection of our animations.
