Junior Citizens

Today the whole of year 6 went to Junior Citizens, this is organised by the Metropolitan Police. The aim of the afternoon is to give the children role play opportunities where they can learn key skills and also aid them with their transition by looking at how they would travel to Secondary School. The children had a great day as you can see below:

DT Fortnight- Moving Vehicles

Our DT Fortnight this term has been Moving Vehicles. The children were given a range of equipment to use and had to design and make a vehicle that could move! Here are their attempts at this project, the vehicles being tested and the race we had last friday.

Lunar Theme Park

6B have been designing their own theme parks for the moon! They started with a budget of £500,000 to play with (they wish!) and many different running costs. We will be holding an Apprentice/Dragon's Den session this week to see who has ran the most successful theme park.

Silent Movies

In our music lessons before Easter, we were learning about silent movies. We found out that the music was added afterwards to make it more exciting. In small groups we chose a scene to act out; composed the music to go with it; recorded the music using a computer program called Audacity and finally we put it all together to make our own silent movies- what do you think?

Yeast Experiment

Our topic on Micro-organisms has been very interesting and the children have been learning about yeast. Here are some pictures of our experiment- why don't you ask one of the children in 6B about what they learnt about yeast.

Multi Sports at Woodbridge

Last Friday all of year 6 were invited to Woodbridge top take part in a multi sports event. the children were all mixed up and split into lots of different teams, with names like Tigers and Wild cats, they then completed a round robin of activities including hurdling, skipping and cheer leading. The children really enjoyed themselves and all participated fully - congratulations to those children who were chosen to win medals for their effort and also to the winning team. Would be great to hear comments at to what the favourite sport was and would you like to do more of it at Oakdale!
